He is the first Akhal Teke to come to Australia.

The logo of the Australian Akhal Teke Association is from a photograph of Teke taken the day he arrived at Timbarra Valley.

In 1997, Svengali was nominated by Tatjana Riabova, as one of only three Akhal Teke Stallions outside of Russia that she recommended for breeding. She liked him very much.

Mr Klimuk, of Stavropol Stud, commented he is very like Ametist, his grandfather on his mother's side. the Institute in Rayzan, Russia, recommends stallions for breeding to keep up the standard of the breed.

Some stallions, Tatjana recommends to geld, so as not to have indiscriminate breeding. This would lower the breed's standard due to poor type, conformation, movement and possible gentic deformity.

Just looking at any pedigree of an Akhal Teke, makes you realise how often the same horses occur again and again, indicating there are very few to breed from! Therefore great care has to be taken in selecting your horses for breeding.

The grooms bringing the thoroughbred "shuttle stallions, " had never seen an Akhal Teke before, but they classed Svengali as a very good horse. They were very impressed by him.
